Travelling to Majon
Travelling to Majon takes about a five-hour drive or an eight-hour train ride from the capital city of Pyongyang, located 340 kilometres away. The Majon Funfair lies just 24 kilometres away from the south-eastern edge of Hamhung, the provincial capital and an industrial city harboured by green mountain and the blue ocean. As one of the natural gems of Korean's East Sea, Majon Beach is famous for its elegant scenery, bathing beach, West Lake Student bathing beach, and summer retreats.
During the trip from Hamhung to Majon, the guests will have a chance to get a glance at the expansive 2.8 Vinylon Joint Enterprise, the Hungnam Fertilizer Joint Venture, the Longcheng Mechanical Joint Administration, Xuanhua Hall, Chengqing Pavilion, Jiutian Court, and other modernized factories and places of heritage and interest.
The Retreat Pavilion is located on the outskirts of the industrial capital of Hamhung.
Summer at Majon Beach
Majon bathing beach is harbored by green mountains, extending along a strip of smooth silver sand, adorned by plants and blooms, virtually a "Xanadu". Majon Retreat Pavilions are surrounded by a sea of blooms of more than 40 types of flowers, such as like roses, daylilies, azaleas, daisies, fragrant lilies etc.
The water depth is shallow and extends a good distance from the shore. Majon Beach stretches 1,200 meters long and 50 meters wide. The most pleasant water temperature occurs from June to October.
A red sun rising slowly from the East ushers guests to a fantastic brand new day.
Plenty of clams are hiding in the sand within 80 meters from the shoreline, and everyone can have some clam-digging fun. Additionally, the waters just offshore are full with a variety of fish, affording guests activities such as canoe fishing and reef fishing.
Majon offshore underwater is inhabited with a variety of fishes：
March to October: flounder, carp, triggerfish, Pacific saury.
The end of July to September: mackerel, yellowtail.
November 5th to 20th: Sweetfish (ayu) can be found around reefs. In addition, the offshore seabed and reefs are rich with clams, abalone, sea cucumbers, sea urchins, thick crab, etc.
March to May: Wakame and seaweed can be harvested near reefs.
Majon Retreat is equipped with fishing boats for guests to have some fishing fun!

Majon Beach is populated with 20 Retreat Pavilions, three of which are upscale luxury, six luxury, and eleven standard in addition to 106 single and executive suites with potential to accommodate a total of 209 people. Guests are welcome to visit the five-store General Service Building, which has a restaurant with a capacity of 80 seats, bars, shops, bookstores, photo studio, beauty salon, barber shop, various entertainment rooms, ballroom, screening room, and six standard suites.
The restaurant in the centre of Retreat Pavilion is an architectural marvel of novel and exquisite design and style. Its patio facing the ocean offers an astonishing view alongside various local delicacies such as sashimi of fresh local fish, an assortment of vegetables from the local mountains, BBQ, fairy pot (hot pot), starch noodles, as well as Korean, Chinese and Western dishes as well.
